Current Bikes > Bullfinch RC44
A race bike for those that are looking for a swift, sporting, modern ride.
Using steel to make a race bike produces a remarkable machine. Using the latest tech, and mating the chassis to modern componentry, forks, bearings and wheels we have forged an absorbing ride experience with the RC44. Thanks to the wealth of tube wall thicknesses and diameters of Reynolds tubing, we have been able to design, build and finesse a stiff and fully accomplished chassis.
This bike has a commitment to one purpose: delivering you up the road and fast. It really is quite simple – you go forwards and the world goes backwards.
- Modern race frame design with oversized 853 ProTeam lightweight tubing
- 44mm i/d headtube at the front
- Massive oversized seat stays at the rear, mated to breezer dropouts for unmatched stiffness and integrity
- Enve 2.0 fork with tapered steerer
- Chris King Inset 7 headset
Ride and feel
This is a bike for getting on with your miles. Stiff and direct enough for fast short blasts – it is also at home on longer distances.
The brief for the handling characteristics was uncompromising – we set out to build the best handling steel bike available. This bike brakes, steers and turns exactly as you would expect of the highest end machines; yet the RC 44 has just enough spring and compliance in play, aiding grip and traction and countering muscle fatigue.
On fast descents and open rolling terrain the RC 44 tracks cleanly, braking progressively with no squirm and allows you to adjust your line with confidence. The Bullfinch design and build team have balanced the stiffness and geometry required with the feedback and compliance that enable you to deliver your part of the deal.
On the flat, the bike has serious kick, holding speed and turning every push into progress. On the big-ring it provides the comfort, support and grins that a sporting bike should deliver.
Model pictured in red, built to a weight of just 7.8kg. It just wills you to ride it hard. Get on the front.
